Chapter Three
Philosophy & approach
How I think about health and care.
Medicine, practised as a conversation that is attentive, evidence-informed and shaped by the person in front of me.

I
Every woman has her own story
Health is rarely explained by a single symptom or diagnosis. Every woman brings a unique combination of experiences, medical history, lifestyle, life stage and personal goals. My consultations begin by understanding the person as a whole, recognising that meaningful care starts with listening before reaching conclusions.
II
Seeing the whole picture
Good medicine requires looking at how different aspects of health interact. Depending on each woman's circumstances, this may include hormonal health, metabolism, thyroid function, nutrition, digestion, sleep, stress, movement, emotional wellbeing, medical history and other factors that influence overall health. The aim is not to search for a single root cause, but to understand the biological, physiological, behavioural, environmental and psychosocial factors that may be contributing to the current clinical picture.
III
Integrating the best of medicine
My practice integrates conventional medicine, lifestyle medicine, integrative medicine and functional medicine. Rather than competing approaches, they offer complementary perspectives that help build a more complete understanding of health. Every recommendation is grounded in thoughtful clinical reasoning, current evidence and the individual needs of the woman sitting in front of me.
IV
Thoughtful, proportionate care
Thoughtful medicine is not about doing more. It is about understanding what is most likely to make a meaningful difference for the individual woman, prioritising interventions through careful clinical reasoning and creating a plan that is both evidence-informed and realistic. The emphasis is on clarity, simplicity and proportionality, so that each recommendation carries genuine purpose.
V
A partnership over time
Health is not static, and neither is medical care. My role is not simply to diagnose or prescribe, but to work alongside women as their health evolves, helping them understand their bodies, make informed decisions and adapt their care over time. The goal is not perfection. It is thoughtful, personalised care that supports meaningful, sustainable improvements in health.

Thoughtful, personalised, evidence-informed.
Not more medicine. Clearer medicine, considered in the context of a whole life.
